Mission Statement and Other Info

The Hunt Gallery is an integral part of the educational mission of the Webster University art department and a most important and visible aspect of its community outreach. The Hunt Gallery is a non-commercial alternative venue for providing high quality professionally curated exhibitions of contemporary art for the academic community, and the broader St. Louis area public. As a significant factor within the greater St. Louis region’s cultural environment, Hunt Gallery presents exhibitions of individual artists and/or groups of artists of regional, national and international renown whose works demonstrate significant aesthetic achievement or historic importance. Seeking to exhibit innovative works that are aesthetically challenging and in accordance with a mission to educate both university students and the broader public, our programming has ranged from neo-conceptualist, textiles, installation, digital, video and time-based art, to more traditional understandings of drawings, paintings, prints, and sculpture.
